Visit of the First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, G.S. Nikitin, to the Murmansk Territory
First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Gleb Nikitin, held the meeting of the working group “Development of Industry and Technology” of the State Commission for Arctic Development. The working group’s session took place in the regional government within IV Murmansk International Business Week.
Main themes of the session were development perspectives of oil and gas engineering for use in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, working out the materials adapted to the natural and climate conditions of Arctic as well as implementation of technical equipment and instrumental base adapted to polar scientific investigations. Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Territory, Grigory Stratii, who is the member of the working group, reported at the session to the theme: “Development perspectives of oil and gas engineering on the Murmansk Territory”.
Gleb Nikitin emphasized that the Murmansk Territory became the first region where a visiting session of State Commission for questions of Arctic development was hold. First Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the Governor Marina Kovtun for organization of such an effective event as the Murmansk International Business Week and said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation made a proposal to include it into the list of events for positioning Russia at international scale.
Acting as the Governor of the Murmansk Territory Aleksei Tiukavin distinguished that the Murmansk Territory had all reasons for effective Arctic development. “Realization of the regional potential will influence positively its social and economic development and ensure compliance of state tasks in Arctic which were set by Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation”, Aleksei Tiukavin said.
Within the working visit to the region, visited Gleb Nikitin “35 repair yard” branch of “Zvezdochka” ship repairing center. He looked over complex stands of Murmansk, Monchegorsk and Pechenga districts, Olenegorsk, Kirovsk, Polyarnye Zori towns and Kola Nuclear Power Station, branch of “Nerpa” repair yard, Agency for Energetic Effectiveness of the Murmansk Territory.

Murmansk Region confirms the status of the region with favorable conditions for business development
Today, the Governor Marina Kovtun held a meeting of the Council on improving the investment climate in the Murmansk Region. The Head of the region recalled that in the National Investment Climate Rating for the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in 2016, the Murmansk Region rose by 20 points, improving its position to the 32nd place. For the third consecutive year, the region is included in the third group of regions, confirming the status of the region with favorable conditions for business development.
