V International conference “Mining Industry of Barents Euro-Arctic Region: looking into the future” – “Import substitution and possible growth zones” began its work in Kirovsk town during the IV Murmansk International Business Week
Marina Kovtun, Governor of the Murmansk Territory greeted guests and participants of the conference: “The fifth anniversary Mining conference is devoted to the branch future on Barents Euro-Arctic Region scale. It is not accidental that Kirovsk town became the conference ground again. That is the place - the heart of Khibin - where the workings of the Kola Scientific Center’s scientists are developed. Future of the Arctic Circle mining industry is born here. I am sure that the conference will give a good impulse to this forward movement with the help of new ideas and business relations. I wish the participants inventions and findings, interesting discussions and meaningful contacts!”
According to the estimations of the Organizational Committee, over 160 leaders and specialists of mining and processing branches and industrial service, representatives of science, federal authorities of the Russian Federation as well as regional and municipal authorities will take part in the conferential events. Foreign representatives from Finland, Norway, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands and Belorussia are among the participants.
Sergey Gubich, Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Territory, appealed to the participants of the conference. He distinguished that activity of mining industry enterprises on the territory of the Arctic zone which the Murmansk Territory is fully included into, is connected with special conditions of economic management.
“Understanding this, the Government of the Murmansk Territory as well as other regions of the Russian Federation which are included into the Arctic zone, together with the Government of the Russian Federation have been executing work on preparation of founding documents which determine a special status of economic entities performing their activity on the territory of the Arctic zone, as well as support them” S. Gubich said.
Two days conference program includes reports, discussions in the form of round tables, expositions presentation informing about enterprises which take part in the forum.
