Government of the Murmansk Region seeks to provide state support to creating ultra large marine works construction center in Belokamenka village
On February 9, 2016 the Government of the Murmansk Region adopted a resolution to grant the status of strategic investment project to the investment project “Ultra Large Marine Works Construction Center in Belokamenka Village of the Murmansk Region”. The project envisages creating a specialized work-yard consisting of two dry docks 400 m by 200 m each, that will allow building unique marine facilities – gravity concrete platforms for LNG plants, drilling and mining rigs for shelf projects in the western sector of the Arctic, as well as constructing and servicing ultra large facilities jointly with leading shipbuilding corporations in order to enable the running of the Northern Sea Route. The first LNG plant on the gravity platform is expected to be founded in 2018-2019.
The implementation of this project will make it possible to involve large investments in the region, to create thousands of jobs and it will give an impetus to the development of the Murmansk region and facilitate import substitution and technology localization in Russia.
The governor of the Murmansk region
Today, the Governor Marina Kovtun held a meeting of the Council on improving the investment climate in the Murmansk Region. The Head of the region recalled that in the National Investment Climate Rating for the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in 2016, the Murmansk Region rose by 20 points, improving its position to the 32nd place. For the third consecutive year, the region is included in the third group of regions, confirming the status of the region with favorable conditions for business development.
On June 23, 2017, in the Kolenergo Central electrical networks (2A Festivalnaya Street, the town of Apatity, the Murmansk Region), the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the Murmansk Region (Regional Association of Employers) will meet with representatives of the business community of the municipal entities of the town of Apatity and the town of Kirovsk.
